Position Purpose & Focus
Phillips Connect seeks a highly motivated and experienced Director of Solutions Architecture to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable cloud-based solutions. This role partners with cross-functional teams to deliver modern data platforms, cloud architectures, AI/ML capabilities, integrations, and mobile applications, primarily within the AWS ecosystem.
The Director will define and guide enterprise architecture strategy while driving operational excellence, innovation, scalability, performance, and security across all cloud servicing applications. This role plays a critical part in aligning technology solutions with business objectives through close collaboration with business leaders, product teams, and engineering organizations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and lead architecture for complex systems, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, performant, and aligned with business needs.
- Provide technical ownership for 24×7 cloud services, including platform uptime, availability, reliability, and operational stability.
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap, future-state technology strategy, and application modernization and migration plans.
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security, and technology standards and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with software engineers, UX designers, product managers, architects, and customer application teams to deliver high-quality application solutions.
- Lead and participate in production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and resolution planning.
- Partner with third-party vendors to develop, integrate, and deploy software solutions.
- Research, evaluate, and propose AWS-based solutions for data transformation, integration, operational frameworks, and application connectivity.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience leading IT solutions, projects, and teams with increasing responsibility
- Proven expertise in solution and enterprise architecture for complex, large-scale systems
- Strong AWS knowledge and hands-on experience; AWS certification preferred
- Full-stack architecture experience including:
- Cloud-native application architecture
- Microservices ecosystems
- APIs and API Gateway
- UI, API, and full-stack design patterns
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and related open-source technologies
- Familiarity with JSON, REST, and XML-based web services
- Strong understanding of:
- Machine learning and AI concepts
- Data analytics and visualization
- Event-driven architectures
- Experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure including load balancers, cloud networks, and virtual servers
- Strong leadership, influence, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

- Travel: Ability to travel up to 10-15% to company and partner sites as needed.
Reporting
- This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and works closely with the Customer Success team, Engineering and the broader leadership team to ensure alignment with business objectives and customer outcomes. This role manages 2-4 technical team members.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a combination of environments, including home office, company facilities, customer sites, and travel locations. The role involves frequent collaboration, in-person and virtual meetings, and standard computer-based work. Travel by car, train, or plane may be required.
